Thoughts on fake grass in a lanai

I don’t really care about this post. I’m not into fake grass, which is why I don’t have it. A fake lawn is still a lawn. Everyone has their own preferences.

I noticed in Florida many homes have a lanai over their pool area. Is it to keep insects away? Does it provide some shade? How well does it handle wind and storms?

Yep, it does all that. They hold up pretty well in most storms, but the big ones keep repair companies busy. Plus, they keep junk and animals out of the pool.

And alligators too

@LarryBurgon
And some shady folks, not including the residents though.

It helps keep out those flying roaches

That’s a huge lanai. Got any details?

Friends without them deal with raccoons messing up their pool steps too

Bugs and mosquitoes are the main reasons for them.

True. And it’s called a lanai because saying screened porch just sounds low class.

I have no idea why it’s called that, but in Fort Myers, my contractors always used that term. They’d say, ‘We replaced the lanai’ instead of screen.

I could never handle the Florida weather, but I do envy what I see here

A little wind and rain got you worried about living life? You’ll see one day

I want to do that in my front and back yards too, here in Central Ohio.

Me too, fellow resident. I’m right there with you.

Keep those alligators away

Or keep them in…

This isn’t really a lanai or a lawn.

Yes it is! It looks nice from here.
