When the grass keeps growing, you keep on mowing

I’m in Iowa, and it’s mid-November, but I’m still mowing once a week! The grass is doing great, but I think it’ll stop growing in a few weeks to a month. I missed my chance to overseed, so I’ll wait for the real winter snow (Midwesterners will get it) to dormant seed. It’s Kentucky bluegrass.

I’m impressed that pergola holds up in the snow!

Built very solid, used lag bolts for a lot of it and LedgerLoc lag screws, hangers on every joist. Eventually, half of it will be framed and sided in with a golf simulator in it. Made it through a record snowstorm with 2 and a half ft of heavy snow, as well as 2 derechos. She ain’t going anywhere.

@Perry
r/decks would like a word with you! Love the grass.

Lol I’ve seen some stuff from that group though I’m not in it. They can definitely be brutal :joy: This isn’t the end-all-be-all version, as I am going to frame half of it and side it off. Maybe half-frame the other half with a ledge. But it has held up to 2.5ft of heavy snow and made it through 2 derechos with 85mph winds. It’s built solid.

@Perry
Sounds like a solid plan! Best of luck!

It certainly has a tall roof.

Yes lol. Needed it to be tall enough to swing a driver in a golf simulator that I’m going to build. Was supposed to be framed and walled off on half of it as well as have the golf sim finished. Unfortunately, having shoulder surgery and being off work for 10 months put a damper in that.

@Perry
When you mentioned a golf simulator before I thought you meant like a golden tee arcade machine :laughing:

You mean holds up itself. Unbelievably scary the more I look at it.

It’s an older one but I’ve had great success with it. The Cleveland TFi 2135 8.0.

Made it through a 2.5ft snowstorm and 2 derechos, she’s built to last. Heavy-duty T and L brackets, half-inch lag bolts, ledger lock screws (equal to half-inch lag bolts in sheer strength), and hangers on every joist, as well as from beam to joist. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

I use Rekos and a Ping Anser 2 myself. What sub are we in again?

@Harley
In January, I got the new TaylorMade Stealth irons then had shoulder surgery in February. Still have not been able to play a round. Hit a few at the range though lol. For rescue, I really like the M2, and for driver, I use the TM SLDR, though I’d like to upgrade that at some point.
