New to lawn care. I don’t know how to fix this issue anymore. We have small rocks in our yard instead of grass (that’s how the property was sold to us). Initially, we thought it would be easier to maintain than grass because there was a weeds barrier, or so we thought. Anywhere, we can’t keep up with the growing weeds. We spray and pull them, but they have taken over the yard and we can’t stay on top of it. Is there any recommendations on how to control weeds in rock beds? In the future, we’ll change to grass but that’s not possible now. We live in southern Texas.
Try Roundup 365. Not cheap, but I’ve had better results than normal Roundup. Need to spray 100% coverage, not spot spray. It’s still going to be an ongoing battle. We’ve got a rock driveway, parking area, and rip-rap for the drainage ditch. Nature finds a way.
@Ari
We’ll give it a try. At this point, we need some type of solution. We did use Roundup before, but I don’t remember which type it was, and it was definitely spot spraying.

Awesome. Thanks for the photo. I’ll look into this.
Idk but trying to control weeds while living in the desert seems to be like the most bizarre thing… if something is growing without your intervention in that condition just let it grow…

I would if not for the lovely HOA sending me notices
@Micah
How long will they let you cover the area with black plastic? You ought to be able to bake and starve them out.

Probably not long, I thought about that. But I really don’t think it’ll be feasible with my HOA because we’re a very visible house.
@Micah
Only recourse is putting up cones and trying to make them think a utility did it.

might work.

Blow torch.
This, a weed burner and pre-emergent, then water it to make sure your pre-emergent gets dispersed properly.
Check for a Ewing near you. Used to buy Roundup- 160.00 a gallon. Ewing suggested a product about half the cost. These are concentrates that worked like a charm.
I have the same problem in parts of my yard. Same rocks, different part of the country. You can try Preen after you have sprayed, but before the weeds grow back. That should keep things from coming back.
@Thorne
Cool, thanks for the tip!
Pick up the rocks, put down landscape fabric, return the rocks. You’ll still get some after that, but then it’s just maintenance with pulling or Roundup.

That’s one of the projects we plan to do, but it’s making time to get that done. That’ll be a lot.
Roundup and more rock.

What do you mean by more rock?? Like overload the lawn with more rocks?

Yeah. Deeper layer.
