How did your fall lawn restorations go? Feeling happy, sad, or just waiting for spring?

Got my fall lawn restoration done, and I’m curious how everyone’s turned out. Are you feeling good about it, frustrated, or just hoping it’ll look better in the spring?

Sending you some positive vibes!

Installed an irrigation system and went from Bermuda to fescue. I had companies handle everything since I was busy and in pain. Unfortunately, rain washed away half of my hydromulch, and the Bermuda wasn’t killed off properly, so now I have 40% fescue and the rest is dirt in the front yard. The back yard, which is shaded, is doing better, but the ground is still too soft because the yard wasn’t rolled properly.

Wish I could’ve done the prep myself, but live and learn. Hoping I can fix it in the spring before the freeze hits in about 15 days.

@Ori
Sorry to hear that. I hope both you and your lawn are feeling better soon.

All the bare spots I was hoping to fill didn’t sprout much, but the thicker parts of the lawn look great. The Scott’s mini spreader left big stripes all over, so I’m glad I returned it and got an RB80 instead.

@Zephyr
Someone needs to show Scott’s this forum! They really need to get back to the drawing board, lol.

Parts of my lawn got washed out by the hurricanes, so I reseeded yesterday. I’ll update once it starts germinating.

Glad you’re safe! My dad lives in Florida, and I think I was more stressed about the hurricane than he was.

My overseed on 8000 sqft got drowned by Hurricane Helene. I’ve lost about 75% of it. I used the leftover seed on the bare spots, and I’m just starting to see some germination. But the ground is pretty soft after two rounds of seeding and 10 inches of rain. Plus, the squirrels are digging it up. Might be a bust.

The backyard (6800 sqft) renovation is coming along better. I seeded after Helene, and after 12 days, it’s time to cut back the watering.

Sorry to hear that, but glad you’re safe!

Everything looked great after aeration and overseeding, but then it rained for a week straight. Most of it died.

Sorry to hear that. But if the germination was good, it should bounce back. Lawns can be tricky with water—too much or too little will mess things up.

My backyard got hit with a fungus this year from wet mornings and humidity. It reminded me of how fast my hair thinned out, lol.

@Ashton
I’m afraid it won’t recover this time. The rain washed everything out, and what didn’t wash away died because it took forever to dry out. Guess there’s always next year.

I’m really sorry, man. But once the frost passes next season, try dropping some seed again—it’ll bounce back.
