It’s been 4 weeks. We’ve had a lot of rain from storms here in NC, so I waited for the lawn to dry out. Now, it’s gotten really long.
Looks great! Stick to your fertilizer plan!

What type of fertilizer should I be using right now? I had someone come prep, fertilize, and lay the sod. I’ve just been keeping it watered.
@Valen
I’d focus on soil amendments. Healthy soil makes healthy grass. I love using liquid Humic Acid and BioChar products, Anderson’s is my go-to with their DG tech.
Looks good. Keep watering, fertilize, and make sure to mow at 4 inches. Tall Fescue prefers being cut high. Follow this and it’ll stay green and hold water better.

I used my push mower on the highest setting. I agree, I wish I could’ve gone even higher, especially for the first cut.
@Valen
Since you’re already cutting at the highest, you’re good. Just make sure to give it a boost with some fertilizer.
Is the first mow supposed to be shorter than usual? I always mow at the highest setting.
Usually, you wait until the Tall Fescue hits around 3-4 inches before you mow the first time. That helps the roots settle in.
It looks great, but it kinda feels like you’re just showing off someone else’s work here.

Totally agree, feels like cheating to me too.
