Fall Overseed in Ohio Zone 5B

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on my fall overseeding project in Ohio, Zone 5B. Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  1. Scalped the lawn.
  2. Dethatched it.
  3. Aerated the soil.
  4. Overseeded with a mix of grass seed.
  5. Watered it thoroughly.

I’ve attached photos from Day 1 and Day 16 to show the progress.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how it’s looking so far and if there’s anything else I should be doing at this stage. Any tips or encouragement would be appreciated.

From your second picture, I see that I didn’t mow low enough on my “mow low” day. What setting did you use when you mowed? I set mine to 2.5 inches, but it might have been too tall before I overseeded.

Gimme that detatching auto mod

Two comments (not counting OP) and it shows 6… Automod unhinged these days. Peat, dethatching, overseeding.

Looks fantastic! Ours got washed away by rain on Labor Day. Also in Ohio. Did you top dress with anything?

Goood job …Thick, solid, tight
