I’m having a bit of a frustrating experience with my Toro 22” Recycler Stow and Go lawnmower. It’s nothing fancy but does the job, or at least it should. The problem is, it seems like I’m constantly replacing broken plastic parts.
Just recently, after mowing, the grass wasn’t going into the bag as usual. I flipped the mower over and found that the rear baffle was broken. I went to order a replacement part on Amazon and saw that I had last ordered it in May 2023. This isn’t the first part I’ve replaced either—there have been a few other parts that needed fixing too.
My yard is pretty tough on equipment. It’s steep, narrow in some spots, and unfortunately, tends to accumulate rocks and other debris. Because of this, a ride-on or zero-turn mower isn’t practical for me.
So do all push mowers seem to break down frequently like mine, or is it just my luck with this model? Are there any other push mowers out there that might hold up better to the kind of abuse my yard dishes out?
In your post, you mentioned rocks and debris in your yard. I’ve found that walking the yard before mowing helps me get the most out of my blades and mower parts. By doing this, I can spot new rocks that might have surfaced and pick up any sticks or debris that might have fallen from nearby trees. It takes a little extra time, but it helps me avoid constantly replacing blades and fixing parts. Good luck with your lawn care
That’s great to hear… It sounds like the Honda HRX is holding up well for you. Here’s hoping it stays in good shape and you don’t need to replace anything anytime soon.
A yard can collect rocks and debris over time from various sources, like wind blowing them in, or they could be unearthed from the ground during mowing or other yard work. As for mowers, plastic parts can break more easily, especially if the mower is subjected to tough conditions.
If you’re dealing with frequent breakages, investing in a more durable mower, like the Toro Time Master, might be a good solution. It’s known for being robust and can handle tough jobs efficiently, helping you get the lawn done faster without as many replacements.
