Anything I can simply spray on my whole lawn to help?

Yup, this stuff basically nukes most weeds you’ll encounter in your lawn.

@Noor
But is it safe for your lawn?

Yes. It’s a selective herbicide.

@Noor
I tried some less ‘extreme’ herbicide and the clover just laughed it off. This stuff is great and allowed the fescue and bluegrass to survive. I’m not an expert, but I know it worked for me…

We use this at work for crabgrass. Just wanted to inform you this is overkill if you are just spraying clover; any 2,4-D product will kill clover, and it’s much cheaper than Q4.

2, 4-D to start.

Any broadleaf herbicide. 2,4-D is the active ingredient you want to look for.

2,4-D does close to nothing for clover. Don’t ask me how I know.

@Misha
I kinda want to ask how you know :joy: I’ve always had good experiences with it. It won’t touch wild violets, but that’s the only broadleaf it won’t kill where I’m at.

All I had was an expensive 1-gallon sprayer and about 4 acres of weed-infested Kentucky bluegrass lawn. Did my research, bought concentrated 2,4-D, mixed a gallon at a time, and blanket sprayed 1000 sq ft at a time. Decent results after a week or so… and then I realized all I had left was KBG, chickweed, and clover. Gonna look for a clover-specific herbicide next spring and hope to save $300 for a tow-behind sprayer as well.

@Misha
I run it a little over 1 oz to a gallon and have good results. I’m a lawn tech in Oklahoma. That scenario sounds like a nightmare :joy: one gallon sprayer for 4 acres.

How much time do you have? :wink:

@Kitt
All the time in the world.

@Misha
Try mixing it a little stronger. I’ve heard that you may need to double your concentration to achieve the desired result.

Edit: otherwise, you might need a couple of applications.

There’s no way he is mixing it heavily enough because 2,4-D will 100% kill clover. I’m also a lawn tech, in Ohio. We use a product called Battleship for wild violet and creeping Charlie; it’s for ivy, and we mix it with 2,4-D to kill those stronger weeds.

@Misha
I have a premixed sprayer with triclopyr, 2,4-D, and a bit of surfactant. It takes care of almost everything: clover, spurge, dandelion, and other broadleaf weeds to some degree. I just walk around the house with it and spray whatever I see.

@Misha
Can confirm. Applications strong enough to kill clover will severely harm or kill the grass as well. And then the clover will return anyway.

Kerosene for a controlled burn. Keep a hose nearby just in case.

Clover is beautiful and easy to maintain!

Green lawn spray paint.
