Stopped doing anything to my backyard in August - just to see what would happen. And well... Here we are... Sad day in N TX

This is what is supposed to happen. Grass goes dormant and weeds grow, and then you get a weed puller and some elbow grease and pull weeds

what you’re seeing is a real lawn.

Put on headphones and get a weed puller. You can knock that out in an afternoon while listening to a podcast.

Me and my gf took out all the dandelions in a yard about this big, looked like about the same amount of weeds too. We just did small sections at a time over a couple weeks, seemed easier for us that way than all in one go

@Kim
If you get one of those grandpas weeder tools you can definitely do it all in one go

Grandpa weeded is probably the best $20 I’ve ever spent.

Are they easy to use?

great oblique workout too

If you’re sure the Bermuda is fully dormant, this is easy. Fully dormant Bermuda is immune to glyphosate, so you could spot-spray glyphosate with a powered pump sprayer for under a half hour and solve that whole problem.

Note Roundup brand has changed from glyphosate to triclopyr. Triclopyr has soil residual so isn’t useful here. Use one of the cheap off-brand products that only contains glyphosate and none of the fast-knockdown additives like fatty acids that are often added.

@Finley
Hi-Yield Killzall is my go-to now for glyphosate. Cheap and easily available.

It’s funny, one independent hardware store I stop in occasionally made a big show of no longer stocking RoundUp brand because of the legal flap, and replaced it with Killzall.

@Jesse
I am glad the world is not(more?) governed by a California jury.

@Finley
Also, be aware that triclopyr is very harsh on Bermuda. If it’s truly dormant it shouldn’t be a problem.

This is like pimple popper heaven. Get a Grampas Weed Puller and set a timelapse.

Can you send this to all of my customers who tell me they don’t need anymore service come October. lol.

And god, don’t spend all day pulling that. Single app of any broadleaf herbicide on a warm day will clear that up quick. Don’t forget the pre-emergent this spring.

Edit: Never mind. I see you went with Celsius. That’ll do assuming it’s warm enough.

That’s what pre-emergant is for.

2,4D.

A thicker bermuda ground cover would also help reduce it.

Yeah - just an example of what happens when you skip things like that. I’ve already hit this with a heavy dose of Celcius so we’ll see how well that works in these temps.

Looks like a classic case of FAFO. This is the “find out” stage. Nice!

Now all ya gotta do is pull weeds for a couple hours. I find it to be very therapeutic and a great way to get some sun.

Celsius and spectacle. I’d add a soil treatment in there as well to really make it pop when the time is right. I’m in NTX as well and our clay soil loves humic acid and potassium nitrate for growth.
