One month apart - First timer overseeding project

Nice work! I’m also a first timer this season and it was so satisfying to see it actually work out.

Being patient was the hardest part of the whole job.

Did you aerate and dethatch?

Yes to aerate and dethatch, no to scarify. I should have done two passes with the dethatcher though. Lesson learned for next time.

You don’t need to dethatch for a while if you already did this year. It doesn’t really work like that.

Nicely done. When did you mow for the first time after the initial short cut?

A couple of days ago. New grass was already maybe 4 to 5 inches. I mowed at 3.5 inches.

Gotta love it when overseeding works out after all the work. It makes it that much sweeter seeing the results.

Great job on the lawn! But next time remove the lights instead of mowing around them.

Oh come on… of course I remove the lights when I mow. Not necessarily for fertilizer applications though.

@Zeek
I was just picking on you for those lines.

How is everybody growing grass right before winter? I thought we were supposed to leave them alone. I’ve got Bermuda down south… nothing works.
