Left the sprinkler on for 4 hours

I live in central Mexico where it’s very dry. About 3 weeks ago, I laid down new sod. I turned on my sprinkler around 6:30 PM tonight, planning to let it water for 10 minutes before I rotated it. I accidentally forgot about it until 10:30 PM. Is my grass going to die?

Nope, it’s fine. Just set a timer on your phone or get a timer for your sprinkler. You might want to worry more about your water bill!

All types of grass usually handle flooding well. Nothing to worry about.

Not sure what kind of sprinkler you have, but you’ll be alright. Deep watering helps the roots get established, so since you watered deeply, you won’t need to water much more to keep the soil moist.

No, extra water is great for sod.

No. I accidentally overwatered after putting down turf, and it didn’t hurt it at all. It’s thriving now.

Not unless you pay me $1 million in cash.

Your grass will be just fine. However, just a heads up—water bills can get pretty high, so you might want to keep that in check.

Sorry, buddy, but grass hates water. You might be in trouble.

Four hours of the sprinkler going in circles is nothing. I’d guess it’s about the same as 20-30 minutes of heavy rain.

It has rained for over 4 hours before, right? Your grass will be perfectly fine.

Hope you didn’t drown the grass.

Have you never experienced a rainstorm lasting more than 4 hours?
