Pretty sure this guy is a grub, and he and his buddies are why my backyard looks awful…
First photo is the grub, second is my backyard’s current sad state. I’m in Central Florida.

Yes.
thanks for the confirmation!
Go in if you see more than 5 in a 1-foot area; it’s an issue. A few grubs is pretty normal.

Oh trust me, I have absolutely seen more than 5 in a 1-foot area, just was thrown off by how huge these guys are compared to the little ones I see posted on the sub.

That is a rhino beetle grub… Florida?
yep, central Florida.
Yeah when I see rhinos I think of Port Saint Lucie and Ft. Pierce.

I can go even closer to 8 or 10. In which case I’d look at a few places in the yard. I forget the schedule for treatment, but there’s only a few times in the calendar where treatment makes sense.
@Fox
Yeah I treat with Dylox and prevention as well as nematodes and use Milky for the Japanese beetles; mine are blister beetles.
Cutest little grub ever!!! (2nd pic)

It’s probably the second picture that explains the state of your backyard.

yellow spots sure, but the guy in the second picture is pretty entertained enough that he doesn’t destroy the backyard…
