I used mesotrione (tenacity) for the first time, and wow! I didn’t expect it to bleach the grass so much. It turned super white. The picture is after I finally mowed.
My question is, what should I expect after it hopefully kills off my bentgrass and other unwanted grass? Will it just turn brown and create dirt spots that I’ll need to reseed? Whatever it’s doing is happening really slowly, so I’m not sure what to expect.

So ruining the grass’s chlorophyll and photosynthesis ability wouldn’t kill it?
It depends on the grass. We use it on fescue to manage bentgrass. It bleaches the bentgrass but not the fescue. It does bleach bluegrass varieties, so it varies based on your turf.
I’m also working on this for bentgrass. After two applications, most of the bentgrass went from white to brown, so I used a power rake (not exactly a dethatcher) to remove as much dead material as possible and reseeded. I know I didn’t get all the bentgrass, but I’ll have to wait until spring.

I’m a bit skeptical about tenacity (and I have friendly weeds I like), but I want to try some just for nimblewill because I’ve heard good things.
I love tenacity. I use a tenacity/speedzone mix, and it kills everything except my lawn. It works great. You just need to use a pre-emergent a week or so before; this way, what you kill won’t come back.

Haha, this happened to mine after I added triple action for seeding. I’m not sure what turned white, but it looked like a small strain of Bermuda.

Nimblewill.
That’s the stuff. Right now, it looks like I have white hills in my turf. But it’s being overtaken nicely by turf grass as it dies.
