Use Grub-Ex.
Would that still work for new sod? Everything I read says grubs are more of a problem with established lawns.
I got sod from a store once, and it had grubs. Returned it immediately.

Could have been something in the soil before laying the sod. Check where the sod was pulled up for any signs of grubs.

Don’t use Grub-Ex on new sod. You need something stronger that works fast. I used BioAdvanced Grub Killer, and it worked in a day.
Set up a camera at night so you know what’s causing the damage.
Maybe the deer just don’t like your sod job! Just kidding. I’d be upset too.
Would motion-activated lights help scare them off?
Get rid of the grubs with something like Grub-Ex. After that, try castor oil to make the yard less tasty for animals.
Hang some metal pie pans around to scare them away. Make sure they can swing around.
Sounds like a raccoon or skunk. Try a motion-activated sprinkler. It’ll aim and spray.
Motion-activated sprinkler.
100% skunks or raccoons.
You need to deal with the grubs first.
Stay up, hide, and take them out.
Armadillos do this in my yard. They’re hunting for grubs.
Try Liquid Fence. It smells awful but works well.
It’s not deer. It’s raccoons or skunks going for grubs.
Get a motion-activated sprinkler.
Not deer. Definitely raccoons. They pull up sod looking for grubs.
Motion detector sprinklers will scare the deer off, or they won’t care. No in-between.
Looks more like hog damage to me. They dig the same way, and they’re strong enough to tear up even the most established sod.
