I stretched one in my Husqvarna. Then it wouldn’t stay on.
Use an impact wrench to start.
My dog used to like to chew through them as a puppy. Had one break that was 20 years old, but with that amount of life, I can’t complain. Was my grandpa’s old mower.
Once a year on my blower.
On Craftsman I have, but not any other make. Shocker, huh?
My Honda HRX217 is going on 9 years old, and I’m on the original string. Something is obviously not right. If the cord is breaking in the middle, it’s either low-quality cord, or you have something sharp that’s catching it.
@Dallas
My Honda HR 194 from 1984 starter rope never even frayed. I had to replace the entire pull start assembly last year because the recoil spring finally gave up the ghost.
Ah that sucks, it’s the worst when you stop for some reason then it happens and the lawn is only half cut lol.
Do you leave your mower outside?
Try taking the slack out of the cord before pulling. There’s usually a 3-4” gap before you feel the resistance.
Oil the rope with motor oil. I usually soak mine in before installation.
Nope. I have a Greenworks mower. Don’t have that, just push a button.
When I was doing lawns professionally, I replaced so many of them. We had a whole spool of pull cord.
You get pretty fast at replacing them after you do a few.
Check the angle that you’re pulling, make sure you aren’t pulling it sideways to the opening.
Got a push to start, best investment I’ve made.
Enough that I keep a spare on hand.
